If you’ve ever watched a tennis match, you saw that during short breaks in addition to hydrate properly, sportsmen take the opportunity to eat something. So it is not uncommon to see one, sometimes taking a bite of banana. You might think they do it because it is part of the group of easy to peel fruit we talked one day, or because it is one of their hobbies (as well as adjusting underpants and aligning water bottles seamlessly), but the reason is muscle wasting.

Bananas are rich in potassium, which helps to recover from muscle wasting caused by physical activity as demanding as the top-level sports. It is also rich in carbohydrates, which will cause the athlete’s diet is not adversely affected. Therefore, in the middle of a pretty big effort, always good to take a banana, some may accompany it with an energy bar or some chocolate candy. It also regulates the body’s fluid levels, and promotes the proper functioning of the nervous system, which positively affects motor skills.

But even without sports, banana can be a good ally… to study! Yes, strangely enough, potassium helps boost our brain activity. This does not mean that by eating a lot of bananas you are going to become good students, but you will not notice much mental fatigue despite working hard to learn new things. All advantages!

In short, thanks to the components of the banana, you can cope before in training and matches, avoid water retention, and even cramps (one of the biggest problems when physical activity is prolonged). So next time you go to play sports… put a banana in your backpack!
