If any of us ask for foods that we consider typical December, the first thing that comes to mind is nougat, champagne, grapes, candied sweet coal, etc. But do not confuse typical food with seasonal food.

Seasonal foods are those that have their moment of ideal consumption in specific time period, due to its natural ripening process (in the case of fruits, vegetables and legumes), or breeding and growth (with meat, fish and seafood). And as we have said many times, it is very important that we respect the temporality of food, consuming only of each month or season to encourage natural production methods, without forced acceleration, development of local markets, respect for the environment, etc.

So today we thought it the perfect day to remind you of some seasonal food of the month of December:

• Seasonal December vegetables: garlic, artichoke, spinach, celery, eggplant, broccoli , zucchini, squash, chard, onion, cabbage, cauliflower, endive, escarole, spinach, peas, green beans, lettuce, radish, red pepper, leeks, radishes, beets, cabbage, tomato and carrot .

• Seasonal December fruits: khaki, custard apple, kiwi, lemon, tangerine, apple, orange, yellow pear, banana, grapefruit and grapes.

• Seasonal December Meat: beef , pork, venison, pork, rabbit, lamb, pheasant, goose, duck, turkey, quail, chicken and beef.

• Seasonal December Fish: eel, cod, bream, catfish, bream, halibut, sea bass, grouper, halibut, salmon, mullet, shark and trout.

• Seasonal December Shellfish: cockles, shrimp, lobster, red shrimp, mussels, oysters, barnacles and scallops.
