In the mid-XIX century, when the iced tea, juice or water were the only beverages served the function of cooling, many astute entrepreneurs realized that cold drinks could have a great market acceptance.

And so, especially since cola first appeared, it has instant success with the population. It is said that the origin of the popular Coca-Cola is the end of XIX century, when a pharmacist devised his formula from wine and coca leaf. The aim was to create an exciting and energetic liquid.

He soon began to sell it, billing as a good remedy to activate the brain. The next step was to mix the formula with soda and substitute some ingredients for other extracts. And so was born one of the most popular beverages worldwide and at the same time the most unknown, as its recipe is top secret. The drink opened a possibility to produce various beverages with the variety of flavors.

When fats, sugars and weight issues went on to become the main concerns of an affluent society such as the West, soft or low-calorie light drinks came to market, more and more popular and marketed.
