The History of Halloween Candy

“Once in a young lifetime one should be allowed to have as much sweetness as one can possibly want and hold.” ~ Judith Olney (Author of The Joy of Chocolate)

A wise woman, Judith Olney is. As Halloween draws ever nearer, every child gets more excited about the prospect of having more candy than he can carry in his loot bag, pumpkin-shaped candy container, or whatever carrier he chooses to lug along for trick or treat. For sure, even adults are getting all worked up for the sweetest holiday of the year.

Did you know that in the United States alone, there are 36 million potential trick or treaters aged 5 to 13? That does not include the “adults” who join in on the fun! And that is what Halloween is all about: FUN. Whether you dress up in your favorite costume or you come as yourself, the prospect of hoarding enough candy to last an entire week (or maybe more) can arouse exhilarating feelings in anyone.

In preparation for this year’s trick or treating adventure, we have prepared an infographic that can help you maximize your candy gathering experience. At the very least, you’ll have a sweet time learning about the history of Halloween candy!
